Mojave Airport Plane Crazy Saturday

The Mojave Airport hosted another Plane Crazy Saturday fly-in on August 15. It showcased the local air racers that will be participating in the reno Air Races next month.
Piper PA-22-135 Tri-Pacer N2293A was built in 1952. Its construction number is 22-680. It has been registered to Thomas Nault since May 11, 2005.
Rocket propelled Xcor Velocity N216MR.
Xcor Velocity N216MR is propelled by a 1,500-lb thrust rocket engine.
Canadair Sabre Mk.6 N38453 is restored as U.S. Air Force F-86F, 51-13487. It is registered to Al Hansen. It flew for the South African Air Force as #378. It was registered by Flight Systems in October 1983. It was acquired by Global Aerospace of Newport Beach, California in September 1992. It has been owned by Al Hansen since October 6, 1994.
Fouga CM 170 Magister N363F has been owned by Al Hansen since June 4, 1996. Its construction number is 363.
North American T-28B Trojan N328RB Sooo Divine was delivered to the U. S. Navy as BuNo 137645. After retirement from the Navy, it was operated by the US Forestry Service at Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1966 to 1972. It was delivered to MASDC for storage on May 5, 1976. It entered the civil register as N132Z. Ed Hotelling of Prescott, Arizona acquired it in 2000 and registered it as N328RB. It made an emergency landing on the beach at Oxnard, California on April 34, 2007. Albert Hansen bought it on November 21, 2007.
The Sea Cadets of Antelope Valley and the Mojave Transportation Museum set up canopies below the old control tower.
Other vendors set up displays of decals, original oil paintings, and books outside the rear entrance to the Voyager Restaurant.
Cassutt N26ES Wasabi was built by Elliot Seguin and has been registered to him since October 30, 2007. Its construction number is 1. It flies as Race #68.
Nemesis NXT N333XT, Race #3 was built in 2004. It is owned by Kon Sharp. It qualified for the 2008 Reno Air Races at a record-breaking 409 miles per hour.

Grumman S2F-1 Tracker N8110X is reported to have been sold to an owner in Ontario, Oregon. Its construction number is 307. It was delivered to the U.S. Navy as BuNo 136398 in 1958.
Beech B35 Bonanza N5271C was built in 1951. Its construction number is D-2665. It has been registered to Edward Pull of Tehachapi since November 20, 2003.
Cory Bird built Model 001 Symmetry N241ST in 2003. Its construction number is 001. It has been registered to Cory since June 1, 2000. It won the Gold Lindy Award (Grand Champion, Plans-Built) and the Stan Dzik Memorial Award for Design Contribution at Oshkosh in 2004.
Pitts S-1 N67D was built in 1972. Its construction number is 1333514. It has been registered to Mark Street since October 17, 2007.
Rocket propelled Xcor Long Eze N132EZ holds the long-distance cross-country record for rocket powered airplanes. It felw from Mojave to California City.
Republic RC-3 N6568K was built in 1947. Its construction number is 838. It has been registered to Christopher Bullock since April 22, 1993.
Aero Commander 500A N313M was built in 1963. Its construction number is 500A-1276-99. It has been registered to Al Hansen since February 5, 1986.
MiG-15UTI N41125 was built in 1954. Its construction number is 242266. It has been registered to Thomas Smith since May Day 1996.
The event offered rides around the pattern with Dick Rutan in his Cessna 150M N8545U for $20.00. it was built in 1976. Its construction number is 15077946. It has been registered to Dick Rutan since November 1, 1997.
Dick Rutan takes off with an aviation enthusiast. He will be piloting rides again at Plane Crazy Saturday on September 19.
PZL-Mielec M2601 Iskierka N535AZ was built in 1997. Only fourteen were built. Its construction number is 1AP002-02. It has been registered to Airwolf Aviators since July 15, 2009.
Avery JA-5 Walrus N13JA was built in 2002. It is powered by a turbocharged Rotax engine. Its construction number is 001. It has been registered to John Avery since April 11, 2002.
